The founder of our brand, Ziya Duru started manufacturing bulgur with his brother Ihsan Duru in 1935 to meet the demands of military personnel. Ziya Duru placed great importance on producing a natural, high quality product which he has passed onto his sons Ihsan Duru and Emin Duru.The traditional production method involved wheat being milled with only water and the bulgur sun dried. This process remains virtually unchanged although the production process has since been automated.This is why Duru Bulgur has a superior natural taste and remains a firm favourite with our customers.
With law on the family name, Ziya Duru obtained the “DURU” surname and used his surname as the brand name. Duru means pure and clean.
Ziya Duru established the first bulgur mill in Karaman.
Ziya Duru started to supply Duru Bulgur to Turkish Military Forces.
Ziya Duru’s son İhsan Duru became partner with his father.
Our founder Ziya Duru died.
Ziya Duru’s son Mehmet Emin Duru joined the partnership.
The bulgur production capacity has been extended and the number of wholesalers supplied increased.
Duru Bulgur Limited Corp. has been found by Ihsan Duru and Emin Duru.
Earlier, only packaged 25 kg had been packaged, but Duru Bulgur began to offer its customers different sizes, such as 1 kg, 3 kg and 10 kg.
Due to the high demand for 1-kilo packages, Duru Bulgur invested in packing facilities and redesigned 1-kilo packs of Bulgur.
In order to service the stores better, Duru Bulgur decided to deliver the products directly and bought their first van in 1995. In addition, the company expanded its product range and began to pack lentils, rice, chickpeas and white beans.
Identifiers of the company changed and a new corporate look was created. TV and radio advertisements started
HACCP Food Hygiene certification.
A wide distribution network in Turkey has been created with distributors and distribution warehouses. The project to bring bulgur to the population in larger cities in Turkey began. Events to inform food professionals were organized and marketing campaigns were run.
International food shows and food contests were attended. An export team was formed.
Duru Bulgur developed Duru Dual, a healthy mix of bulgur and pulses such as lentils and chickpeas. Duru Dual takes 20 minutes to prepare.
Samples were provided in retail stores around Turkey. A campaign to take Bulgur to the younger generation began and included tastings at University spring days. A dual line was formed. New lines of Vital and Lival were introduced to the market. The total number of countries Duru exports to in the world reached 51.
